Kimberly J. Malczynski, MA LCPC is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and President of Innovative Psychology Counseling Services, Inc. She is also a Certified EMDR Therapist through the EMDR International Association.
Kim's clinical experience includes practicum/internship with the McHenry County Youth Service Bureau (YSB) in Woodstock, IL. which was a non-profit organization that serviced high risk families. YSB hired Kim full-time as an Outpatient Therapist to provide individual, family, and group therapy. She was promoted as the Outpatient Clinical Supervisor for Pioneer Center in Woodstock, IL after Pioneer purchased YSB. As Outpatient Clinical Supervisor, Kim managed a large therapeutic team of outpatient therapists, in-home therapists, and interns. She provided outpatient and community based therapeutic clinical work to children, adolescents, and their families. Kim worked closely with various clinical team members including: therapists, mentors, psychiatrists, nurses, SASS (crisis) personnel and various case managers. She also provided resource and community linkage and collaborated with community members involved with her clients including school personnel, case managers, probation officers, etc.
Kim specializes in trauma focused issues which include difficult life issues, sexual abuse, domestic violence, divorce, etc. As Outpatient Clinical Supervisor, she supervised the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault VOICE for McHenry County and volunteered for Turning Point Domestic Violence Agency in Woodstock, IL. She is a member of the National Board for Certified Counselors and EMDRIA.
Becoming an Independent Contractor in Private Practice was her next stop. Kim provided psychotherapy to all walks of life and all ages with Creative Psychology, Ltd. This enabled Kim to work for an EMDR organization in which she received EMDR support and staffing with a team of other EMDR specialists. In this establishment, she completed her EMDR training and gained her extensive experience as well. Kim established a large client base who then followed her to Innovative Psychology Counseling Services, Inc. Kim decided to put on her entrepreneur cap to start up her own private practice. It was the perfect fit as the new location was both convenient for her clients, plus our office is only 6 miles from Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center (NIMC) in McHenry.
Kim has been trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Family System Theory, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, EMDR, and several other modalities. She is an effective motivator, advocate, psychotherapist, and counselor for children, families, couples and adults with a wide range of problems.
Kim works with the client as a team. She manages all types of personalities and can assist in diffusing and resolving stressful situations. She works side by side with her clients to choose the best evidence-based intervention that fits the client’s personality and lifestyle. Each client is unique, so what may work for one client may not work for another. As a team, we work together to achieve optimal functioning and healthy outcomes.
